Eduardo VII
Eduardo VII – Description / text
This apartment sits on the ground-floor of a housing building at the eastern end of Edward VII Park in Lisbon. These buildings from the 1930s have exceptionally generous common areas and apartment areas.
The apartment’s spatial structure has Bairro Azul's watermark: an entrance hall opening to a long central corridor with doors to all interiors. Despite having east and west-facing windows, the interior partitioning gives the apartment a gloomy and severe atmosphere that we want to change. We cut several interior walls open to join all social spaces - entrance hall, living room, dining room and kitchen. The apartment’s original structure is no longer a barrier and becomes a form of subtle distinction between different social areas, now flooded with natural light and views.
