Pharmácia II
Pharmácia II – Description / text
This is our second project for restaurant Pharmácia. The clients want to use the terrace all year round: shelter from the sun and heat during summer and from rain, cold and wind during winter.
Our proposal tries to bring Pharmácia's informal spirit outwards notwithstanding let the palace's institutional seriousness undisturbed. Parallel to the building’s façade, we designed a steel portico from which we suspend retractable awnings. These awnings are interrupted by existing statues, which we envelop with fruit trees and aromatic bushes. Under the portico, we hang “test-tube luminaries” that an evaporative cooling system and a radiation heating system.
All elements are symmetrical but have a metric suited to their constructive logic - the result is a harmonious and progressive symmetry between the terrace and the palace.
